ParentingSo you want to learn the storytelling basics tips? In order to make your children become “creative”, the best way is to learn through books and storytelling. Therefore, storytelling skills are important to all the parents or nanny. Teaching children about storytelling is a great way to improve your own parenting skills as well.
Here are few storytelling basics tips for all parents… and it is this:
1. Pick the story in order to decide which story is best fit for your child; it is depending on two factors: the gender and the age of your child. Try to choose story that can easily be filled with tales of prince and princess or ghosts and goblins. The great way to start is by asking your children to make the line funny from the simple lines of certain children’s books or well-known fairy tales story. This is a fun and entertains way to start the storytelling.
2. Make your child get involve during the storytelling. Make them as part of the story!
This is where the parenting skills come into play. For example, during Halloween you can ask your children to create their ghost stores without any fear. Even though horror stories do frighten children, but it does not mean that they could not create their own ghost story in their imagination. In result, it is a fun storytelling process.
3. Build Characters
When you tell a story, you can simply start with a link like this…
“An old witch is stirring her boiling magical pot, a bat sit on her right shoulder watching at the beautiful young princess. The old witch said to this young lady that “I will turn you into a bear now!”
Now, you can change the meanings of this story by telling that actually the princess is the bad person, and the others are a powerful little good witch. Then you could ask your children to brainstorm more ideas into this story. Children can be very creative when making up their own story and you could ask each child to go on by adding new part to the story. Try to encourage everyone to get involve and keep the violence out and humor in. Show them this is just a whole process of being FUN. You could also make them dance or use the props for their part of the story. This is a very great way not only fine-tuning your children ‘ s imagination but also improving your parenting skills.
