Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has called upon young people to play a key role in building a developed India by 2047. Addressing the “Viksit Bharat @ 2047 – Young Political Leaders Dialogue” organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Andhra Pradesh, in Vijayawada, Dr. Sawant said young political leaders should work for solving people’s problems rather than seeking positions. He urged them to develop as policy makers, grassroots organisers, technology users and social entrepreneurs.

Dr. Sawant said a new people-centric culture was needed in politics, with transparency, accountability, public participation and greater use of technology in governance. He said political leadership should be judged by the changes brought at the grassroots level and not merely by speeches delivered on public platforms. He called upon young leaders to think beyond the next election and work for future generations.

Speaking about India’s development since 2014, Dr. Sawant highlighted growth in the economy, expansion of national highways, railway electrification, startups, financial inclusion through Jan Dhan accounts, and healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat.

He said initiatives such as MY Bharat, Skill India, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, apprenticeships, Startup India and the PM Internship Scheme were creating new opportunities for young people. Dr. Sawant also appreciated the development initiatives being taken in Andhra Pradesh under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, particularly in technology, innovation, investments, infrastructure and employment.
